Sommer Filmworks LLC was founded by filmmaker Ines Sommer, who is passionate about creating media projects that center on people's real stories and experiences.

Ines also has a long track record as a freelance cinematographer and her camerawork can be seen in many award-winning documentaries, including projects for Chicago's Kartemquin Films (Mapping Stem Cell Research: Terra Incognita, In the Family, Hard Earned, and other titles) and Kindling Group (A Doula Story, The Calling, @home, No Small Matter).
Ines currently serves as the Associate Director of the MFA in Documentary Media program in Northwestern University's Radio/TV/Film Department, where she also teaches. She is a persistent advocate for the independent filmmaking community and has served on the Board of Directors of Chicago Filmmakers and IFP/Chicago. In 2008, Ines co-founded the non-profit media arts group Percolator Films and has organized and curated numerous film events, series, and festivals with an emphasis on community engagement. Her most recent project for Percolator Films is Doc Chicago, an annual conference for Midwest documentary filmmakers.
